What to expect: This Full Day City Tour: Christ Statue, Sugar Loaf, Selaron Staircase will take you to the main attractions in Rio de Janeiro. A sightseeing tour in Rio de Janeiro. After the pick-up from the selected hotels, you’ll head to Corcovado Hill to see Brazil’s greatest icon – the Christ, the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro.
On the way, you’ll see the Copacabana beach, pass in front of Botafogo Soccer Club, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, take a look at the Guanabara Palace, the official residence of the State’s Governor, the Fluminense Soccer Club and the Saint Jude Thaddeus Church.
Next, go through the Tijuca Forest, which covers 3.5% of the city of Rio de Janeiro and is the biggest urban forest in the world. Stop at Paineiras to board the vehicles of the National Park Authority. The visit to the monument lasts around 45 minutes.
Be prepared to take the famous cable car and be mesmerized on the way up to the Urca Hill, your first stop. You will see the city from a different and incredible point of view. Take the second cable car to the Sugar Loaf Hill where you’ll have 30 minutes to enjoy the jaw-dropping view. Next, you will be driven to General Osório Square in Ipanema for a lunch break.
After lunch, you’ll be driven around Maracanã Stadium taking a quick stop at the Bellini statue in front of the main entrance. On the way to the Sambadrome, get ready to see where the magic happens every year. You’ll see where the biggest carnival parade happens, try on some typical costumes and even try to dance some samba, Rio’s main dance and musical style.
Your next stop is the St. Benedict Monastery, which was the first one to be built in the city, and it’s baroque-style church is covered in carved wood gold-leafed sculptures. Moving forward to the next visiting point, be able to see a completely different and modern church, the opposite of the classical St. Benedict: the Metropolitan Cathedral. At the end of this wonderful day, finish your visit at Selaron staircase, which is located in Lapa, Rio’s bohemian heart. This special staircase was covered in colorful tiles from all around the globe by the Chilean artist Selarón, and it has starred in many music videos such as “Beautiful” by Snoop Dog and Pharrel Williams in 2002.
